Adjustment

Nissan Altima 2009-2010

No adjustment is possible. If there is too much play, replace the bearing and/or hub.

Removal & Installation



Specific to:

Nissan Altima 2007-2008

  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle and remove the rear wheel.
  2.  
  3. Remove the brake caliper and hang it from the body without disconnecting the brake line.
  4.  
  5. Remove the rear ABS sensor, then move it away from the wheel hub assembly.
    WARNING
    Failure to remove the ABS sensor may result in damage to the sensor wires and the sensor being inoperative.

  7. Remove the wheel hub assembly.
  8.  
  9. Installation is the reverse of removal. Torque the hub bolts to 65 ft. lbs. (88 Nm).

Nissan Altima 2009-2010


CAUTION
Wheel hub assembly does not require maintenance. If any of the following symptoms are noted, replace the wheel hub assembly:



A growling noise is emitted from the wheel hub assembly while driving.
 
The wheel hub assembly drags or turns roughly.
 

  1. Remove the rear wheel and tire.
  2.  
  3. Remove the brake caliper assembly.
    1. The brake hose does not need to be disconnected from the brake caliper.
    2.  
    3. Suspend the brake caliper assembly using wire, do not stretch the brake hose.
    4.  
    5. Do not depress the brake pedal, or the caliper piston will pop out.
    6.  
    7. Do not twist the brake hose.
    8.

  5. Remove the brake rotor.
  6.  
  7. Remove the rear ABS sensor, then move it away from the wheel hub assembly.
    CAUTION
    Failure to remove the ABS sensor may result in damage to the sensor wires and the sensor being inoperative.

  9. Remove the wheel hub assembly from knuckle.
  10.  
  11. Check for any deformity, cracks, or damage on the wheel hub assembly, replace if necessary.
  12.  

To install:

  1. Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
  2.  
  3. Check that the wheel bearings operate smoothly.
  4.  
  5. Check that the wheel hub bearing axial end play is within specification: 0.004 inches (0.1 mm).
