Removal & Installation

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.

  3. Release the fuel system pressure.
  4.  
  5. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  6.  
  7. Drain the fuel tank. This is done by removing the clamp and hose from the fuel tank fill fitting at the rear of the tank. Position a draining hose from an approved gasoline draining station into the open fuel tank fill fitting.
  8.  
  9. Unplug the electrical connector from the ESIM switch.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the quick connect fittings at front of fuel tank.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the quick connect fitting at the rear of the fuel tank.
  14.  
  15. Support the tank with a hydraulic jack.
  16.  
  17. Remove the two fuel tank strap bolts and remove both tank support straps.
  18.  
  19. Carefully lower the tank a few inches and disconnect the fuel pump module electrical connector at the top of the tank. To disconnect the electrical connector, push upward on the red colored tab to unlock. Push on the black colored tab while removing the connector.

  21. Disconnect the fuel line at the fuel pump module fitting by pressing on the tabs at the side of the quick connect fitting.
  22.  
  23. Disconnect the remaining lines from the tank.
  24.  
  25. Continue to lower the tank for removal.
  26.  
  27. Installation is the reverse of removal. Tighten the strap bolts to 30 ft. lbs. (41 Nm).
