NOTE
Use only gold-plated terminals when servicing terminals in harness connector of Charge Air Pressure Sensor.

  1. Remove the engine cover with the air filter.

  3. Disconnect the 4-pin harness connector at the Charge Air Pressure Sensor (arrow).
  4.  
  5. Start the engine and let it run at idle.
  6.  
  7. Measure the voltage between terminals 1and3 on connector to the wiring harness using a multimeter V.A.G. 1526 B and the adapter cables from the connector test kit V.A.G 1594 C.
  8.  
  9. Specified value: min. 4.5 V
  10.  
  11. Switch the ignition off.
  12.  
  13. If the the voltage is not okay, connect the test box to the wiring harness of the Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM).

  15. Check the wires between the test box and the 4-pin connector for open circuit.

    Terminal 1 and socket 53
     
    Terminal 2 and socket 19
     
    Terminal 3 and socket 381
     

  16.  
  17. Wire resistance: max. 1.5 ohms
  18.  
  19. Check the wires for short circuit to each other, to Battery (+) and Ground (GND).
  20.  
  21. Specified value: infinite ohms
  22.  
  23. If the voltage and wires are okay, replace Charge Air Pressure sensor.
  24.  
  25. If the voltage is not okay and the wires are okay, replace Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM).
  26.  


NOTE
Use only gold-plated terminals when servicing terminals in harness connector of Charge Air Pressure Sensor.

  1. Remove the engine cover with the air filter.

  3. Disconnect the 4-pin harness connector at the Charge Air Pressure Sensor (arrow).
  4.  
  5. Start the engine and let it run at idle.
  6.  
  7. Measure the voltage between terminals 1and3 on connector to the wiring harness using a multimeter V.A.G. 1526 B and the adapter cables from the connector test kit V.A.G 1594 C.
  8.  
  9. Specified value: min. 4.5 V
  10.  
  11. Switch the ignition off.
  12.  
  13. If the the voltage is not okay, connect the test box to the wiring harness of the Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM).

  15. Check the wires between the test box and the 4-pin connector for open circuit.

    Terminal 1 and socket 53
     
    Terminal 2 and socket 19
     
    Terminal 3 and socket 381

  17. Wire resistance: max. 1.5 ohms
  18.  
  19. Check the wires for short circuit to each other, to Battery (+) and Ground (GND).
  20.  
  21. Specified value: infinite ohms
  22.  
  23. If the voltage and wires are okay, replace Charge Air Pressure sensor.
  24.  
  25. If the voltage is not okay and the wires are okay, replace Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM).

  5. Start the engine and let it run at idle.

  7. Measure the voltage between terminals 1and3 on connector to the wiring harness using a multimeter V.A.G. 1526 B and the adapter cables from the connector test kit V.A.G 1594 C.
  8.  
  9. Specified value: min. 4.5 V
  10.  
  11. Switch the ignition off.
  12.  
  13. If the the voltage is not okay, connect the test box to the wiring harness of the Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM).
