Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Regulator Valve 2

Testing



  1. Remove the engine cover with the air filter.

    Fig. Disconnect 2-pin harness connector (arrow).

  3. Disconnect the 2-pin harness connector (arrow) to the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Regulator Valve.

  4.  
  5. Using a multimeter and the adapter cables from the connector test kit, measure the resistance between the terminals of the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Regulator Valve.
  6.  
  7. Specified value: 22.0 to 30.0 ohms (at approx. 20 degrees C)
  8.  
  9. If the resistance is not okay, replace the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Regulator Valve.
  10.  
  11. If the resistance is okay, connect the test box to the wiring harness of the Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM).

  13. Check the wire between the test box socket and the 2-pin connector for a open circuit according.

    Terminal 2 and socket 64
     

  14.  
  15. Wire resistance: max. 1.5 ohms
  16.  
  17. Check the wires for short circuit to Battery (+) and Ground (GND).
  18.  
  19. Specified value: infinite ohms
  20.  
  21. Check the wire between the 2-pin connector terminal 1 and the Engine Component Power Supply Relay J757 for an open circuit.
  22.  
  23. Wire resistance: max. 1.5 ohms
  24.  
  25. If the wires are okay, replace Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM)
  26.  

  1. Remove the engine cover with the air filter.

  3. Disconnect the 2-pin harness connector (arrow) to the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Regulator Valve.

  5. Using a multimeter and the adapter cables from the connector test kit, measure the resistance between the terminals of the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Regulator Valve.
  6.  
  7. Specified value: 22.0 to 30.0 ohms (at approx. 20 degrees C)
  8.  
  9. If the resistance is not okay, replace the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Regulator Valve.
  10.  
  11. If the resistance is okay, connect the test box to the wiring harness of the Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM).

  13. Check the wire between the test box socket and the 2-pin connector for a open circuit according.
