2.4L Engine



  1. Drain the cooling system.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor.
  4.  
  5. Remove the ECT sensor from the thermostat housing.
  6.  

To install:


NOTE
Replacement components must be the correct part number for the application. Components requiring the use of the thread locking compound, lubricants, corrosion inhibitors, or sealants are identified in the service procedure. Some replacement components may come with these coatings already applied. Do not use these coatings on components unless specified. These coatings can affect the final torque, which may affect the operation of the component. Use the correct torque specification when installing components in order to avoid damage.


NOTE
Use care when handling the coolant sensor. Damage to the coolant sensor will affect the operation of the fuel control system.

  1. If reinstalling the original sensor, or if installing a NEW sensor without a sealer, coat the threads with sealant.
  2.  
  3. Install the ECT sensor to the thermostat housing and tighten to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connector to the ECT sensor.
  6.  
  7. Fill the cooling system

3.5L Engine



  1. Drain the cooling system.
  2.  
  3. Remove the intake manifold cover, if necessary.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the fuel injector wiring harness electrical connector from the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor. Remove the ECT sensor.

To install:

Components requiring the use of the thread locking compound, lubricants, corrosion inhibitors, or sealants are identified in the service procedure.   1. Coat the threads of the ECT sensor with sealer GM P/N 13246004 (Canadian P/N 10953480) or equivalent.
  2.  
  3. Install the ECT sensor and tighten to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Connect the fuel injector wiring harness electrical connector to the ECT sensor.
  6.  
  7. Install the intake manifold cover, if necessary.
  8.  
  9. Fill the cooling system.

3.6L Engine



  1. Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor.
  2.  
  3. Remove the ECT sensor.

  1. Install the ECT sensor and tighten to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm).

  3. Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connector (1) to the ECT sensor
