Removal & Installation



Rear Driveshaft
  1. Raise and support the vehicle
  2.  
  3. Paint or scribe reference marks on the transfer case flange to the propeller shaft flange to ensure minimal driveline system imbalance.
  4.  
  5. Support the front of the propeller shaft with a jack stand.
  6.  
  7. Remove the front propeller shaft bolt.
    NOTE
    DO NOT reuse the propeller shaft bolts or washers. Replace with NEW.

  8.  
  9. Support the center bearing with a jack stand and remove the center bearing bolt.
  10.  
  11. Paint or scribe reference marks on the rear propeller shaft flange to the rear differential drive flange to ensure minimal driveline system imbalance.
  12.  
  13. Remove the rear propeller shaft bolt and remove the propeller shaft.
  14.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal, please note the following:
    1. Align the matchmarks made prior to removal when installing the shaft.
    2.  
    3. Tighten the rear propeller shaft bolt to 43 ft. lbs. (58 Nm).
    4.  
    5. Tighten the center bearing bolt to 43 ft. lbs. (58 Nm).
    6.  
    7. Tighten the front propeller shaft bolt to 26 ft. lbs. (35 Nm).
