  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.
  3. Disconnect battery negative cable from battery and properly isolate to prevent accidental reconnection.
    NOTE
Always turn the ignition OFF when connecting or disconnecting battery cables, battery chargers, or jumper cables. Failing to do so may damage the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) or other electronic components.

    NOTE
The battery is located beneath the rear seat cushion.

  4.
  5. Turn OFF the ignition.
  6.
  7. Raise and support the vehicle.
  8.
  9. Remove or disconnect the following:

Left front tire and wheel assembly

    Left front fascia extension

EBCM connector position assurance from the EBCM electrical connector

  10.
  11. Rotate the electronic brake control module (EBCM) connector tab up to the unlocked position.
    WARNING
To prevent equipment damage, never connect or disconnect the wiring harness connection from the EBCM with the ignition switch in the ON position.

To install:

  1. Clean the seal surface of the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV).
  2.
  3. Install the electronic brake control module (EBCM) to the BPMV.
  4.
  5. Install the 6 EBCM to BPMV screws and tighten to 28 inch lbs. (3.2 Nm)
  6.
  7. Connect the BPMV electrical connector to the EBCM.
    WARNING
To prevent equipment damage, never connect or disconnect the wiring harness connection from the EBCM with the ignition switch in the ON position.

  8.
  9. Connect the EBCM electrical connector to the EBCM.
  10.
  11. Rotate the EBCM connector tab (2) down to the locked position.
  12.
  13. Install or connect the following:

EBCM connector position assurance to the EBCM electrical connector

    Left front fascia extension

Left front tire and wheel assembly

  14.
  15. Lower the vehicle.
  16.
  17. An unprogrammed EBCM will result in the following conditions:

Inoperative or poorly functioning DRP/ABS/TCS/VSES/TIM/VES if equipped.

Turn on the Red Brake Warning Indicator On.

    The EBCM will Malfunction Internally.

  18.
  19. If a replacement EBCM is being installed, it must be programmed using the latest software matching the vehicle.
  20.
  21. Use the scan tool in order to clear the DTCs.
  22.
  23. Perform the Auto Bleed Procedure.
