Removal & Installation
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
Disconnect battery negative cable from battery and properly isolate to prevent accidental reconnection.
NOTEAlways turn the ignition OFF when connecting or disconnecting battery cables, battery chargers, or jumper cables. Failing to do so may damage the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) or other electronic components.
NOTEThe battery is located beneath the rear seat cushion.
- Raise and support the vehicle.
Remove or disconnect the following:
Tire and wheel
Insert drift of screwdriver into the caliper and rotor in order to prevent rotor from turning.
Drive axle nut
Install or connect the following:
NOTEFor cotter pin alignment, tighten the nut up to, but do not exceed 60 degrees additional rotation. Do not back off nut for cotter pin alignment.
Lower ball joint to the steering knuckle and tighten the nut to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm) plus 180°
Tie rod to the knuckle and tighten the nut to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm) plus 180°
- Reconnect the negative battery cable and reinstall the rear seat cushion.
