Blower Motor

Removal & Installation



  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the right rear quarter panel trim.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the electrical lead at the fan.
  6.  
  7. Remove the screws and if equipped, the cooling tube.
  8.  
  9. If necessary, remove the fan retaining nut and lift out the blower fan.
  10.  
  11. Remove the blower motor.

To install:

  1. Install the blower motor and then position the fan.
  2.  
  3. Install the retaining nut and then tighten the mounting screws to 12 inch lbs. (2 Nm).
  4.  
  5. If removed, install the cooling tube.
  6.  
  7. Connect the electrical lead. Install the quarter panel trim cover.
  8.  
  9. Connect the battery cable.
  10.  

  1. Remove the right rear quarter trim panel.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  4.  
  5. Remove the blower motor screws.
  6.  
  7. Remove the blower motor (1) from the auxiliary HVAC module (2).
  8.  
  9. Remove the retaining clip from the fan cage.
  10.  
  11. Remove the fan cage from the blower motor.

  13. Install the fan cage to the blower motor (1).
  14.  
  15. Install the retaining clip to the fan cage.
  16.  
  17. Install the blower motor (1) to the auxiliary HVAC module (2).
  18.  
  19. Install the blower motor screws.
  20.  
  21. Connect the electrical connectors.
  22.  
  23. Install the right rear quarter trim.
  24.  

2-Door Models
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the right rear quarter trim panel.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  6.  
  7. Remove the screws securing the blower motor.
  8.  
  9. Remove the cooling tube.
  10.  
  11. Remove the blower motor.
  12.  
  13. Remove the fan cage from the motor.

To install:

  1. Install the fan cage to the motor.
  2.  
  3. Install the blower motor to the case.
  4.  
  5. Install the screws and tighten the screws to 15 inch lbs. (1.7 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install the cooling tube.
  8.  
  9. Connect the electrical connectors, as necessary.
  10.  
  11. Install the right rear quarter trim panel.
  12.  
  13. Connect the negative battery cable.
  14.  
  15. Test the check circuit operation.
  16.  

4-Door Models
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the right rear quarter trim panel.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  6.  
  7. Remove the screws securing the blower motor.
  8.  
  9. Remove the blower housing/motor assembly.
  10.  
  11. Remove the blower motor from the blower housing.
  12.  
  13. Remove the fan cage from the motor.

To install:

  1. Install the fan cage to the motor.
  2.  
  3. Install the blower motor to the blower housing.
  4.  
  5. Install the blower housing to the case.
  6.  
  7. Install the screws and tighten to 18 inch lbs. (1.9 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Connect the electrical connectors, as necessary.
  10.  
  11. Install the right rear quarter trim panel.
  12.  
  13. Connect the negative battery cable.
  14.  
  15. Test the check circuit operation.
  16.
