Diagnosis & Testing

  1. Check the fuses for the window circuit. Verify there is 12 volts at the fuse terminal. If voltage is not present, check the wiring.
  2.  
  3. Unplug the motor connector.
  4.  
  5. Install a 25 amp fused jumper wire between terminal A and 12 volts.
  6.  
  7. Momentarily install a jumper wire between terminal B and ground. The motor should operate; if not replace it.
  8.  
  9. Switch the jumper wires around and test again. The motor should operate; if not replace it.
  10.  
  11. If the motor still does not operate correctly when using a switch, then check the wiring for opens or shorts to ground.
  12.  
  13. If the wiring is ok but the motor still does not operate, the switch is faulty.
  14.

Removal & Installation
Front Window Motor And Regulator
  1. Remove the door panel. Refer to the Power Door Lock procedures.
  2.  
  3. Carefully detach the water shield from the door; this will be reused upon installation.
  4.  
  5. Remove the door speaker.
  6.  
  7. Support the window to prevent it from moving downwards.
  8.  
  9. Unplug the harness from the window motor.
  10.  
  11. Remove the 3 bolts securing the motor assembly to the door, then remove it from the vehicle.
  12.  
  13. If necessary to replace the motor, separate the assembly by wiggling the motor out of the housing.
  14.  
  15. Installation is the reverse of removal. Tighten the bolts to 44 inch lbs. (5 Nm).

2005-06 & 2007 Classic Models
  1. Remove the door panel. Refer to the Power Door Lock procedures.
  2.

Rear Window Motor And Regulator
  1. Remove the door panel. Refer to the Power Door Lock procedures.

  7. Remove the bolts that secure the regulator to the window.
  8.  
  9. Unplug the harness from the window motor.
  10.  
  11. Remove the fasteners securing the regulator and motor assembly to the door, then remove it from the vehicle.
  12.  
  13. If necessary to replace the motor, remove the screws, then remove it from the regulator.
  14.  
  15. Installation is the reverse of removal. Tighten the fasteners to 80 inch lbs. (9 Nm).

2005-06 & 2007 Classic Models
  1. Remove the door panel. Refer to the Power Door Lock procedures.
  2.  
  3. Carefully detach the water shield from the door; this will be reused upon installation.

  8.  
  9. Remove the 3 bolts securing the motor assembly to the door, then remove it from the vehicle.

Window Switch
Front

Refer to the door lock switch removal procedure.

Rear
  1. On extended cab, gently push the switch toward the rear of the door.
  2.  
  3. Lift the front of the switch using a small flat tool and detach it from the door panel.
  4.  
  5. Unplug the electrical connection.
  6.  
  7. Installation is the reverse of removal.

  1. On extended cab, gently push the switch toward the rear of the door.
