Lower Control Arms

  1. Raise and properly support the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Support the rear axle with jack stands or similar.
  4.  
  5. Remove the lower control arm retaining nuts.
  6.  
  7. Remove the lower control arm retaining bolt.
  8.  
  9. Remove the lower control arm.
  10.  

To install:

  1. Install the lower control arm.
  2.  
  3. Install the lower control arm retaining bolts
    WARNING
    Do not tighten the nuts and bolts unless the suspension is at the vehicle-s curb height. Tightening the control arm nuts and bolt with the suspension extended will cause excessive twisting and premature failure of the control arm-s rubber bushings.

  4.  
  5. Install the lower control arm retaining nuts but DO NOT tighten.
  6.  
  7. Bring the vehicles suspension to curb height (i.e. vehicle standing on it-s wheels).
  8.  
  9. Tighten the lower control arm retaining bolts to 89 ft. lbs. (120 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Remove the rear axle support (if necessary).
  12.  
  13. Lower the vehicle (if necessary).
  14.  

Removal & Installation



  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Remove the lower control arm retaining nuts.
  4.  
  5. Remove the lower control arm retaining bolt.
  6.  
  7. Remove the lower control arm.

To install:

  1. Remove the lower control arm retaining nuts.
  2.  
  3. Remove the lower control arm retaining bolt.
  4.  
  5. Remove the lower control arm.
    NOTE
    Do not tighten the bolts unless the suspension is at the ride height.

  6.  
  7. Install the lower control arm retaining nut.
  8.  
  9. Tighten the lower control arm retaining bolts to 89 ft. lbs. (120 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Remove the rear axle support.
  12.  
  13. Lower the vehicle.
  14.
