Removal & Installation

  1. Run the engine at idle speed with A/C on for approx. 10 minutes.
  2.  
  3. Stop the engine.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the negative terminal cable from battery.
  6.  
  7. Discharge the refrigerant from refrigeration system.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the discharge hose and suction hose from the compressor. Cap the open fittings immediately to keep moisture or dirt out of the system.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the connector from the magnetic clutch.
  12.  
  13. Remove the engine under cover.
  14.  
  15. Remove the drive belt.
  16.  
  17. Remove the compressor:
    1. Remove the 2 nuts and 2 bolts.
    2.  
    3. Remove the compressor.

To install:

  1. Install the 2 stud bolts.
  2.  
  3. Install the compressor with 2 bolts and nuts. Tighten to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install and check the drive belt.
  6.  
  7. Connect the connector to the magnetic clutch.
  8.  
  9. Connect the discharge hose and suction hose to compressor. Lubricate 2 new O-rings with compressor oil and install the tubes. Tighten to 7 ft. lbs. (10 Nm). Hoses should be connected immediately after the caps have been removed.
  10.  
  11. Install the engine under cover.
  12.  
  13. Evacuate the air in the refrigeration system and charge with refrigerant.
  14.  
  15. Check for refrigerant leakage. If there is leakage, check the tightening torque at the joints.
  16.  
  17. Connect the negative battery cable.
  18.  
  19. Inspect A/C operation.
