Crankshaft Damper (Balancer)

Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the engine coolant reservoir tank.
  4.  
  5. Detach the alternator belt.
  6.  
  7. Remove the right front wheel and the splash shield.
  8.  
  9. Remove the power steering pump drive belt by loosening the two bolts.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the two ground wire connectors.
  12.  
  13. Remove the right engine mounting stay.
  14.  
  15. Remove the engine moving control rod and the No. 2 right engine mounting bracket. To extract the engine bracket and control rod, you will need to raise the engine slightly.
  16.  
  17. Remove the No. 2 alternator bracket.
  18.  
  19. Using a SST (09213-54015 and 09330-00021) or equivalent tool, remove the crankshaft pulley bolt.
  20.  
  21. Using a puller, remove the crankshaft pulley.

  23. Using a puller, remove the crankshaft pulley.

To install:

  1. Install the pulley onto the crankshaft.
  2.  
  3. Thread the crankshaft pulley bolt into the end of the crankshaft by hand for at least the first few threads. This will lessen the chance of cross-threading the bolt which may damage the threads. Torque the crankshaft bolt to 159 ft. lbs. (215 Nm).
  4.  
  5. The remainder of the installation procedure is the reverse of removal.
