Lower Control Arms

Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Raise and support the vehicle safely.
  4.  
  5. Remove the front wheels.
  6.  
  7. Remove the front fender apron seal.
  8.  
  9. Remove the drive shaft lock nut.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the tie rod end from steering knuckle.

  13. Remove both stabilizer end brackets from the lower suspension arms.
  14.  
  15. Disconnect the lower suspension arm from lower ball joint.

  17. Remove the drive shaft from axle hub. Support the drive shaft securely. Be careful not to damage the drive shaft boot and ABS sensor rotor.

  19. Remove the 2 bolts on the front side of the lower suspension arm.

  21. Remove the bolt and nut on the rear side of the lower suspension arm.

  23. Remove the lower suspension arm.

  25. Remove the lower suspension arm bushing stopper from the lower suspension arm shaft.

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal, noting the following:
    1. Tighten the rear lower suspension arm bolt and nut to 152 ft. lbs. (206 Nm).
    2.  
    3. Tighten the front lower suspension arm bolts to 152 ft. lbs. (206 Nm).
    4.  
    5. Tighten the lower suspension arm-to-lower ball joint nuts and bolt to 94 ft. lbs. (127 Nm).
    6.  
    7. Tighten the stabilizer end bracket nuts 41 ft. lbs. (56 Nm).
    8.  
    9. Tighten the drive shaft nut to 217 ft. lbs. (294 Nm).
    10.  
    11. Check the front wheel alignment and adjust as necessary.
