Removal & Installation

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Remove the battery cables and the tray.

  7. Drain the engine coolant.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the cruise control actuator from the body.

  11. Disconnect the cooling fan connectors.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the upper radiator hose from the radiator.
  14.  
  15. Disconnect the lower radiator hose from the water inlet pipe.
  16.  
  17. Detach the A/T oil cooler hoses from the oil cooler pipes.
  18.  
  19. Remove the radiator and cooling fans assembly:
    1. Disconnect the cruise control actuator wire from the clamp on the No.1 cooling fan shroud.
    2.  
    3. Remove the bolts and the two upper supports.
    4.  
    5. Lift out the radiator assembly, with the cooling fans still attached.
    6.  
    7. Remove the two lower supports from the radiator.
    8.

  21. Remove the A/T oil cooler hoses from the radiator.
  22.  
  23. Remove the lower radiator hose from the radiator.
  24.  
  25. Remove the No. 1 and the No. 2 cooling fans from the radiator.
  26.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal, noting the following:
    1. Tighten the cooling fan bolts to 44 inch lbs. (5 Nm).
    2.  
    3. Tighten the bolts of the upper radiator support to 9 ft. lbs. (13 Nm).
    4.  
    5. After installation, check that the rubber cushion of the support is not depressed.

    7. Refill engine coolant.
    8.  
    9. Start the engine and check for coolant and A/T fluid leaks.
    10.  
    11. Check the A/T fluid level.
