Timing Belt Front Cover

Removal & Installation



3.5L Engine
  1. Perform fuel pressure release procedure.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Raise the vehicle.
  6.  
  7. Remove the accessory drive belt.
  8.  
  9. Remove accessory drive belt tensioner.
  10.  
  11. Remove bolts for power steering pump. Reposition power steering pump aside.
  12.  
  13. Remove crankshaft damper.
  14.  
  15. Remove the lower front timing belt cover fasteners.
  16.  
  17. Lower the vehicle.
  18.  
  19. Support the engine with a floor jack.
  20.  
  21. Remove the front engine mount.

    1. Remove fore aft member (3) to mount (4) bolts.

    3. Remove mount through bolt (1).
    4.  
    5. Remove fore aft member (3) mounting bolts and remove.
    6.  
    7. Remove front mount (4).

  23. Disconnect the fuel supply line at the fuel rail.
  24.  
  25. Remove the upper timing belt cover bolts and remove front timing belt cover.

To install:


NOTE
The timing cover bolts and both holes to the engine block must be thoroughly cleaned and free of oil residue before assembly. IN ADDITION, add thread sealant to the timing cover bolts that mount to the oil pump.

  1. Install front timing belt cover.
  2.  
  3. Install the upper engine mount.
  4.  
  5. Connect fuel supply line at fuel rail.
  6.  
  7. Raise the vehicle.
  8.  
  9. Install power steering pump fasteners. Tighten bolts to 17 ft. lbs. (23 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Install crankshaft damper.
  12.  
  13. Install accessory drive belt tensioner. Torque fastener to 21 ft. lbs. (28 Nm).
  14.  
  15. Install accessory drive belt.
  16.  
  17. Lower the vehicle.
  18.  
  19. Connect negative battery cable.
