Valve Lash (Clearance) Adjustment

The engines in these vehicles do not have adjustable valve lifters and do not require periodic valve lash adjustment.

2.0L & 2.5L Engines



The engines are equipped with Hydraulic Lash Adjusters (HLAs) which are precision units installed in machined openings in the valve actuating ends of the rocker arms. Valve clearance adjustments are not performed.

2.4L & 2.7L Engines



The valves are actuated by roller cam followers which pivot on stationary Hydraulic Lash Adjusters (HLAs). The HLAs are precision units installed in machined openings of the cam follower. Valve clearance adjustments are not performed.
