CAUTION
Refer to the applicable precautions for this system before performing the following operation. Failure to follow the warnings and cautions could result in possible personal injury or death.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Discharge and recover the refrigerant.
  4.  
  5. Remove the compressor A/C hose assembly connector block fitting nut.
  6.  
  7. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the electrical connector at the compressor.

  11. Remove serpentine accessory drive belt.

  13. Remove the A/C compressor-to-bracket bolts.
  14.  
  15. Remove the compressor.
  16.  
  17. Drain the oil from the compressor into a container. Measure the amount of oil drained and then discard the used oil.

To install:

  1. Add oil to the new compressor. Use the exact amount of oil that you drained from the old compressor.
  2.  
  3. Install the compressor.
  4.  
  5. Install the compressor-to-bracket mounting bolts.
  6.  
  7. Tighten the compressor bracket bolt to 26 ft. lbs. (35 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Install the serpentine accessory drive bolt.
  10.  
  11. Lower the vehicle.
  12.  
  13. Install new O-ring to the A/C hose assembly connector block fitting.
  14.  
  15. Install the compressor hose assembly connector block fitting and tighten the retaining nut.
  16.  
  17. Tighten the A/C system hose connector retaining nut to 24 ft. lbs. (33 Nm).
  18.  
  19. Connect the electrical connector at the compressor.
  20.  
  21. Connect the negative battery cable.
  22.  
  23. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system.
