Anytime the fuel system is serviced the generation of spilled fuel and fuel vapor expose the technician to possibility of flash fire or explosion. All work should be performed in a well ventilated area with easy access to a fire extinguisher. All spilled fuel must be removed immediately. Wear protective eyewear. Failure to observe these precautions may result in personal injury.
Clean the fuel rail inlet connection. Wrap a shop towel around the fuel rail inlet connection. Be prepared with a suitable container to catch fuel spilling out of the connection.
Slowly loosen the hose clamp on the fuel inlet connection.
Remove the connection and drain the fuel into the container. Cap the line and connection to prevent contaminants from entering the system.
