REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



E30 3 Series
  1. Remove the lower dash trim from under the steering column.
  2.  
  3. Remove the trim from above the steering column.
  4.  
  5. Remove the 2 screws from the top of the instrument panel hood and the 4 screws from below. Note the positions of the screws as they are different lengths.
  6.  
  7. Remove the screws from the instrument cluster and pull forward. Pull the clip off the plug and disconnect from the cluster.
  8.  
  9. Install in reverse order.
  10.  

E36 3 Series

If the instrument cluster is disconnected from the harness, the cluster must be recoded using the BMW Diagnostic Tester or equivalent. Arrange to have the cluster recoded.

  1. Remove the steering wheel.
  2.  
  3. Remove the screws from the instrument cluster at the top.
  4.  
  5. Pull the instrument cluster forward. Push the levers up to disconnect the harness.
  6.  
  7. Install in reverse order.
  8.  

E34 5 Series
  1. Remove the steering wheel.
  2.  
  3. Remove the screws from the instrument cluster at the top.
  4.  
  5. Pull the instrument cluster forward. Push the levers up to disconnect the harness.
  6.  
  7. Install in reverse order.
  8.
