REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



From Engine Compartment

See Figure 1

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the positive battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Loosen and remove the bolt which secures the battery bracket the vehicle.
  6.  
  7. Remove the battery by grasping at both sides and lifting out. Note the position and direction of the terminal posts for reinstallation.
  8.  

To install:
  1. Clean both the positive and negative battery terminal posts with a terminal cleaner.
  2.

  1. Place the battery into the engine compartment with the posts positioned correctly.
  2.  
  3. Secure the battery into position by installing the battery bracket and securing with the bolt.
  4.  

Make sure that no hoses, vacuum lines or wires are caught between the battery or bracket when securing in place.

  1. Connect the positive terminal to the battery.
  2.  
  3. Connect the negative cable to the battery.
  4.  
  5. Apply a small amount of grease on and around the cable ends and battery posts to protect and prevent corrosion.
  6.  

Under Rear Seat

See Figures 1 and 2

  1. Grasp the bottom of the lower seat cushion and lift up to release to clips securing the seat into position.
  2.  
  3. If equipped with a protective cover over the battery, remove and place aside.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the positive battery cable.
  8.  
  9. Remove the overflow hose attached to the top of the battery, if equipped.
  10.  
  11. Loosen and remove the bolt which secures the battery bracket to the vehicle.
  12.  
  13. Remove the battery by grasping at both sides and lifting out. Note the position and direction of the terminal posts for reinstallation.
  14.  

To install:
  1. Clean both the positive and negative battery terminal posts with a terminal cleaner.
  2.  
  3. Place the battery into position with the posts positioned correctly.
  4.

  1. Secure the battery into position by installing the battery bracket and securing with the bolt.
  2.  

Make sure that no hoses, vacuum lines or wires are caught between the battery or bracket when securing in place.

  1. Connect the positive terminal to the battery.
  2.  
  3. Connect the negative cable to the battery.
  4.  
  5. Apply a small amount of grease on and around the cable ends and battery posts to protect and prevent corrosion.
  6.  
  7. Install the overflow hose and protective cover, if equipped.
  8.  
  9. Install the rear sear cushion, making sure the clips lock into position.
  10.  

Trunk Compartment

See Figures 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8

  1. Remove the plastic screws from right side trim panel cover.
  2.  
  3. Lift the plastic cover up and place aside.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the positive battery cable.
  8.

  1. Unfasten the overflow hose attached to the top of the battery, if equipped.
  2.  
  3. Loosen and remove the bolt which secures the battery bracket the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Remove the battery by grasping at both sides and lifting out. Note the position and direction of the terminal posts for reinstallation.
  6.  

To install:

  9. Slide the trim cover over the battery and secure using the plastic screws.
