Cylinder Head (Valve) Cover

See Figures 1, 2 and 3

Cylinder head cover removal and installation is basically a straightforward procedure on all models covered in this guide. Disconnect any hoses or lines which are in the way, the remove the retaining bolts or nuts and lift off the cover. It is always a good idea to remove and install the bolts/nuts in a cross-wise manner starting in the center to prevent gasket and valve cover warpage. Snug all bolts/nuts finger tight and then tighten in the same order. Cylinder head cover removal will almost always require the replacement of the gasket upon installation, therefore purchase a new gasket prior to removing the valve.
