REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

  1. Remove the lower dashboard trim panel to access the upper portion of the brake pedal.
  2.
  3. Unhook the brake pedal and clutch pedal return springs.
  4.
  5. Unclip the retainer from the brake pedal to linkage pin and pull the pin out.
  6.
  7. Remove the nut from the pivot shaft and pull the shaft out. Remove the brake pedal.
  8.

To install:
  1. Check the condition of the pedal bushing and replace if necessary. Lubricate the bushing with a light coating of grease.
  2.
  3. Install the pedal and replace the pivot. Use a new locknut and torque to 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm).
  4.
  5. Install the pin and retainer at the linkage. Connect the pedal return springs.
  6.
  7. Adjust the pedal height at the pushrod. The height should be 9.25 inches (235mm) from the lower edge of the pedal to the firewall, not including the carpet. Torque the locknut to 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm).
  8.
  9. If the brake light switch has a threaded body, adjust the brake light switch so there is 0.236 inches (6mm) from the pedal to the edge of the switch. If the body is not threaded, adjustment is automatic. Depress and hold the brake pedal down. Pull the sleeve and plunger to the full out position. Install in the holder and slowly release the brake pedal.
  10.
  11. Install the lower trim.
