Air Container and Throttle Valve Stub Assembly

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



  1. Label and disconnect all hoses from the air cleaner. Remove the air cleaner.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the fuel hose and cable from the start of the throttle valve stub. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the air container.
  4.  
  5. Loosen all hose clamps and remove the 4 induction pipes.
  6.  
  7. Unhook the return spring from the throttle valve stub linkage. Disconnect the retaining screw for the linkage bracket.
  8.  
  9. Taking care to support the pipe connection while loosening, disconnect the injection pipe at No. 1 cylinder. Remove the injection valve.
  10.  
  11. Remove the 2 retaining bolts for the throttle valve stub support bracket. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the valve stub and the auxiliary air hose from the air container.
  12.  
  13. Taking care to support the pipe connection while loosening, disconnect the injection pipe from No. 4 cylinder.
  14.  
  15. Remove the 6 nuts retaining the air container to the cylinder head and lift off the air container and throttle valve stub assembly.
  16.  

To install:
  1. Install new gaskets at the cylinder head flange and new cord rings at the induction pipes, if necessary.
  2.  
  3. Install the air container to the cylinder head and install the 6 nuts that retain it.
  4.  
  5. Install the valve stub support bracket and retaining bolts.
  6.  
  7. Install the No. 1 injection pipe and connect all 4 induction pipes. Connect the fuel lines and vacuum hose. Reconnect the cable to valve stub.
  8.  
  9. Install the air cleaner and connect all hoses.
  10.  
  11. Check the tightness of the induction pipes by spraying water at the pipe connections. If there is an air leak, the engine will idle unevenly.
