Adjustment



The accessory drive belt adjustment is maintained by an automatic tensioner.

Inspection



Inspect the drive belt for signs of glazing or cracking. A glazed belt will be perfectly smooth from slippage, while a good belt will have a slight texture of fabric visible. Cracks will usually start at the inner edge of the belt and run outward. All worn or damaged drive belts should be replaced immediately.

Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
    NOTE
    If the drive belt is to be reused, mark direction of travel and reinstall drive belt in same direction of travel.

  3. Remove A/C compressor drive belt:
    1. Release tension from drive belt by attaching hexagon head wrench or Torx socket to belt tensioner.
    2.  
    3. Remove A/C drive belt.

  5. Remove alternator/accessory drive belt:
    1. Remove dust cap from accessory drive belt tensioner.
    2.  
    3. Relieve tension on drive belt.
    4.  
    5. Remove accessory drive belt.

To install:


NOTE
Check drive belts for coolant and oil residues, replace if necessary.

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  2.  
  3. Route drive belts around pulleys in same order of removal.
