Wheel Bearings



Wheel bearings cannot be adjusted and must be replaced as a unit and never be reused once removed.

Removal & Installation

The wheel bearings are only removed if they are worn. They cannot be removed without destroying them (due to side thrust created by the bearing puller). They cannot be disassembled, repacked or adjusted.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:
    To avoid damaging the dust sleeve, use special tool tools 33-2-160 to drive out and draw in the drive flange after removing the brake disk. Rounded inside edge of special tool must point to drive flange.

    Negative battery cable

    Front brake disc
    Drive flange by installing special tools 33-2-116, 160 and 33-4-200
    Bearing inner race from the flange
    Swivel bearing
    Bearing by installing special tools 31-2-113, 33-4-266, 33-3-266 and 33-4-266/261


To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Wheel bearing with the wider chamfer facing the swivel bearing to the drive flange with special tools 31-2-113, 33-4-266, 33-3-266 and 33-4-266/261
    Snap ring and circlip
    Bearing inner race to the drive flange
    Drive flange to the swivel bearing by using special tool 33-2-116, 160 and 33-4-200
    Swivel bearing
    Front brake disc
    Negative battery cable
