Lower Control Arms

Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Raise the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    The wheel
     
    The stabilizer from rear axle carrier
     
    The coil spring. Refer to Rear Suspension, Coil Spring removal and installation

  7. Support rear differential
    NOTE
    To avoid damaging the output shaft, it will be necessary to support the trailing arm with the workshop jack.

  8.  
  9. Support trailing arm from underneath using a workshop jack.

  11. Mark position of eccentric bolt(1) to lower control arm with center marks (2).

  13. Remove nut and eccentric washer.
  14.  
  15. Remove eccentric bolt towards front.
  16.  
  17. Remove bolt and remove thread plate (1) downwards.
  18.  
  19. Press rear differential to side and remove bolt.
  20.  
  21. Remove lower control arm at side.

To install:


NOTE
Tighten all joints and rubber bushings with the rear suspension in the normal position. Weld seam of control arm must point upwards.

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Thread plate into opening in rear axle carrier. Tighten bolt to 57 ft. lbs. (77 Nm)
     
    Eccentric bolt. Align by means of marking to lower control arm. Reinstall eccentric washer. Replace self-locking nut. Tighten bolt to 74 ft. lbs. (100 Nm)
     
    The coil spring. Refer to Rear Suspension, Coil Spring removal and installation
     
    The stabilizer to rear axle carrier
     
    The wheel. Tighten bolts to 103 ft. lbs. (140 Nm).
