Upper Control Arms

Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Raise the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    The wheel
     
    The brake caliper. Hang the brake caliper on a hook in the sub-frame.
     
    The coil spring. Refer to Rear Suspension, Coil Spring removal and installation
     
    The stabilizer link from upper control arm
     

  6.  
  7. Support rear differential
  8.  
  9. Remove nut and bolt from control arm as illustrated.
    NOTE
    Observe bolt insertion direction (F is direction of travel).

  11. Remove or disconnect the following:

    The bolt for the inner rear control arm mounting
     
    The two bolts for the inner front control arm mounting
     
    The control arm
     

  12.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:
    NOTE
    Replace self-locking nuts and bolts.



    The bolts for the inner rear control arm mounting
     
    The bolts for the front inner control arm mounting
     
    The bolts for the outer control arm mounting
     

  2.  
  3. Tighten the M12 bolts for the inner rear control arm mounting to 57 ft. lbs. (77 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Tighten the M12 bolts for the front inner control arm mounting to 57 ft. lbs. (77 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Tighten the M12 bolts for the upper control arm to the trailing arm to 78 ft. lbs. (106 Nm).
    NOTE
    Tighten the bolts when the rear suspension is in the normal position.

  8.  
  9. Install the wheel and tighten bolts to 103 ft. lbs. (140 Nm).
