Hydraulic System Bleeding



  1. Remove any transmission underbody protection, if equipped.
  2.  
  3. Remove the microfilter housing, if equipped.
  4.  
  5. Remove the mounting nuts and remove the slave cylinder, but leave the lines connected.
  6.  
  7. Fit Special Tool 21-5-030 on the slave cylinder. Press the piston rod with the aid of the spindle completely into the clutch slave cylinder.

    Fig. Install Tool 21-5-030 to the slave cylinder (1). Press the piston rod (2) into the slave cylinder.

  9. Connect a bleeder unit to the brake fluid expansion tank.
  10.  
  11. Connect a bleeder hose to the bleed valve.
  12.  
  13. Hold the slave cylinder in the position shown with the Special Tool.
  14.  
  15. Open the bleeder valve.
  16.  
  17. If bubble-free brake fluid emerges, retract the piston rod of clutch slave cylinder with aid of spindle a little and press in again.
  18.  
  19. If no air bubbles escape, close bleeder valve, otherwise repeat procedure.
  20.  
  21. Once complete, switch off the bleeder unit and remove the from the expansion tank.
  22.  
  23. Install the slave cylinder and any removed components.

    Fig. Hold the slave cylinder in the position shown and open the bleeder valve (1). Retract the piston rod (2) to bleed the system.
