3.0L Engine



  1. Drain the cooling system.
  2.  
  3. Remove the engine fan. For additional information, please refer to the following topic: -Engine Fan, Removal & Installation-.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the coolant hoses from the thermostat housing..

  6.  
  7. Loosen the nut and mounting bolts on the thermostat housing.
  8.  
  9. Remove the thermostat assembly.
  10.  

To install:


NOTE
The thermostat is integrated into the housing and can only be replaced as a unit.

  1. Clean the contact surfaces of any oil.
  2.  
  3. Replace the thermostat gasket before reinstalling.
  4.  
  5. The remainder of the installation is the reverse order of removal.
  6.  
  7. Refill the cooling system to the correct level.
  8.  
  9. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  10.  

4.4L, 4.6L & 4.8L Engines



  1. Drain the cooling system.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the thermostat electrical connector.
  4.  
  5. Detach the coolant hose.
  6.  
  7. Loose the nut and remove the mounting bolts.
  8.  
  9. Remove the thermostat.

To install:


NOTE
The thermostat is integrated into the cover and can only be replaced as a unit.

  1. Installation is the reverse order of removal.
  2.  
  3. Refill the cooling system to the correct level.
  4.  
  5. Start the engine and check for leaks.
