Engine Identification

Print

The eighth VIN position identifies the engine. This is important since many parts books require the engine VIN to correctly identify the engine. For example, this content covers a 3.8L (VIN K) engine and a 3.8L (VIN 1) engine. The VIN K engine is normally aspirated while the VIN 1 engine is supercharged. Knowing the correct VIN of the engine is key to getting the correct replacement parts.
