Crankshaft Damper (Balancer)

Removal & Installation



Special tools required:



Holder handle 07JAB-001020B
 
Crankshaft pulley holder 07AAB-RJAA100
 
Socket, 19mm 07JAA-001020A or a commercially available 19mm socket
 

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the front wheels.
  4.  
  5. Remove the splash shield.
  6.  
  7. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to Accessory Drive Belts, removal & installation.
  8.  
  9. Hold the pulley with the holder handle (A) and the holder attachment (B).
  10.  
  11. Remove the bolt with a 19mm socket (C) and breaker bar, then remove the crankshaft pulley.

To install:

  1. Clean the crankshaft damper pulley, crankshaft, bolt, and washer. Lubricate crankshaft damper bolt with new engine oil.
  2.  
  3. Install the crankshaft damper pulley and hold the pulley with holder handle (A) and holder attachment (B).
  4.  
  5. Tighten the crankshaft damper bolt to 36 ft. lbs. (49 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Tighten the crankshaft damper bolt an additional 90°.
  8.  
  9. Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to Accessory Drive Belts, removal & installation.
  10.  
  11. Install the splash shield.
  12.  
  13. Install the front wheels.
  14.
