Removal & Installation




CAUTION
Do not insert your fingers into the installed throttle body when you turn the ignition switch to ON or while the ignition switch is ON . Serious injury may result if the throttle valve is activated.


NOTE
If replacing or cleaning the throttle body, start at step 2. If removing the throttle body, start at step 5.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Connect the Honda Diagnostics System (HDS) to the Data Link Connector (DLC) while the engine is stopped.
  4.  
  5. Select the INSPECTION MENU on the HDS.
  6.  
  7. Perform the TP POSITION CHECK in the ETCS TEST.
  8.  
  9. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK.
  10.  
  11. Remove the air intake duct (A).
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the throttle body connector (B).
  14.  
  15. Disconnect the water bypass hoses (C) and plug them.
  16.  
  17. Disconnect the vacuum hose (D).
  18.  
  19. Remove the throttle body (E).
  20.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  2.  
  3. Install a new throttle body gasket (F) and tighten the retaining bolts and nuts to 17 ft. lbs. (24 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Refill the radiator with the proper type and amount of engine coolant.
  6.  
  7. Perform the PCM idle learn procedure. Refer to Engine Assembly, removal & installation.
