Power Door Locks



Diagnosis & Testing
Door Lock Motor

Specific to:

Honda CR-V 2007-2008

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the door panel.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the 10P connector (A) from the actuator (B).
    NOTE
    The illustration shows the driver's door.

  6.  
  7. Check the actuator operation by connecting power and ground according to the table. To prevent damage to the actuator, apply battery voltage only momentarily.
  8.  
  9. If the actuator does not operate as specified, replace it.

Door Lock Switch

Specific to:

Honda CR-V 2007-2008

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
    NOTE
    The driver's door lock switch is built into the power window master switch.

  2.  
  3. Remove the power window master switch and disconnect its connector.
  4.  
  5. Check for continuity between the power window master switch 22P connector terminals:

    There should be continuity between terminals No. 17 and No. 12 when the door lock switch is in the LOCK position.
     
    There should be no continuity between terminals No. 17 and No. 12 when the door lock switch is in the UNLOCK position.
     
    There should be continuity between terminals No. 19 and No. 12 when the door lock switch is in the UNLOCK position.
     
    There should be no continuity between terminals No. 19 and No. 12 when the door lock switch is in the LOCK position.

  7. If the continuity is not as specified, replace the power window master switch.

Removal & Installation
Door Lock Motor

Specific to:

Honda CR-V 2007-2008

Special tools required:



Trim pad remover, Snap-on A 177A, or equivalent
 
KTC trim tool set SOJATP2014, or equivalent trim tool set
 


NOTE
Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when prying components.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Using a trim tool, pry out the upper portion of the cover (A) to release the hooks (B), then remove the cover.

  5. Remove the screws.
  6.  
  7. Driver's door: Pull the inner handle (A) rearward and out half-way to release the power door lock switch bracket (B) from the door panel (C).

  9. Passenger's door: Pull the inner handle half-way.
  10.  
  11. Driver's door: Disconnect the power door lock switch connector (A). Disconnect the inner handle rod (B), then remove the inner handle (C).

  13. Lower the glass fully.
  14.  
  15. Remove the screws from under the armrest.
  16.  
  17. Passenger's door: Refer to the accompanying illustration and remove the switch panel (A):
    1. Insert a flat-tip screwdriver wrapped with protective tape through a hole under the armrest, and push up the back of the panel to release the rear hook (B).
    2.  
    3. Pull out along the edge of the panel to release the hooks (C) and the clip.
    4.  
    5. Disconnect the power window switch connector (D).

  19. Remove the mirror mount cover.
    NOTE
    Refer to the accompanying illustration for door panel removal.

  21. Remove the door panel (A) with as little bending as possible to avoid creasing or breaking it:
    1. Release the clip (B).
    2.  
    3. Release the clips (C) that hold the door panel with a commercially available trim pad remover (D).
    4.  
    5. Starting at the rear, pull the door panel upward, then release the lock knob (E).

  23. Driver's door: Disconnect the power window switch connector (A), power mirror switch connector (B), hatch glass opener switch connector (C), and detach the harness clips (D) from the back of the door panel.

  25. Driver's door: Push up the back of the switch panel to release the clip and hooks, then remove the panel.

  27. Disconnect the door lock motor electrical connection.
  28.  
  29. Remove the retainers and remove the door lock motor.
  30.  

To install:

  1. Install the door lock motor and secure with the retaining bolts.
  2.  
  3. Install the panel in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
    1. Replace any damaged clips.
    2.  
    3. Make sure the connectors are plugged in properly, and the rod is connected properly.
    4.  
    5. Push the clips into place securely.
      NOTE
      Resetting the power window control unit is required after performing the following procedures: disconnecting the battery, removing the No. 6 (7.5 A) and/or the No. 23 (20 A) fuses from the under-dash fuse/relay box, or disconnecting the driver's door wire harness.

  5. Perform the power window control unit resetting procedure, as follows:
    1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
    2.  
    3. Move the driver's window all the way down by holding the driver's switch firmly down; when the window reaches the bottom, hold the driver's window switch firmly down for 2 seconds.
    4.  
    5. Move the driver's window all the way up by holding the driver's switch firmly up; when the window reaches the top, hold the driver's window switch firmly up for 2 seconds.
    6.  
    7. If the window does not work in AUTO, turn the ignition switch OFF and repeat the procedure.

Door Lock Switch

Specific to:

  5. Remove the screws.

  11. Driver's door: Disconnect the power door lock switch connector (A). Disconnect the inner handle rod (B), then remove the inner handle (C).

  13. Lower the glass fully.

  15. Remove the screws from under the armrest.

  17. Passenger's door: Refer to the accompanying illustration and remove the switch panel (A):

  25. Driver's door: Push up the back of the switch panel to release the clip and hooks, then remove the panel.

  27. Remove the 2 mounting screws and the door lock switch.
  28.  

To install:

  1. Install the door lock switch and secure with the 2 mounting screws.
  2.  
  3. Install the panel in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
    1. Replace any damaged clips.
