Power Windows



Diagnosis & Testing
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the door panel and disconnect the connectors.
  4.  
  5. Test the motor in each direction by connecting battery power and ground to the power window master switch 22P connector according to the table.
  6.  
  7. If the motor does not run or fails to run smoothly, go to the next step.

  9. Disconnect the 6P connector from the driver's power window motor.
  10.  
  11. Check for continuity between the power window master switch 22P connector terminals No. 9 and No. 10 and the driver's power window motor 6P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 4, respectively.
  12.  
  13. If the wire harness is OK, replace the driver's power window motor.

Removal & Installation
Motor & Regulator

Specific to:

Honda CR-V 2007-2008

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the screw from the door handle trim, then slide the handle assembly forward and out to access the lock rod clip. Release the clip, disconnect the door lock switch and remove the door opener handle assembly.
  4.  
  5. Carefully pry at the small opening on the bottom of the speaker grill, and remove the grille.
  6.  
  7. Remove the speaker mounting screws, detach the electrical connector and remove the speaker.
  8.  
  9. Remove the screws in the armrest.
  10.  
  11. Remove the center from the trim clip at the upper front of the door panel and remove the clip.
  12.  
  13. Using a suitable trim panel removal tool, unsnap the door panel from the door frame.
  14.  
  15. Carefully lift the door panel up and away from the door frame.

  17. Remove the plastic vapor barrier.

  19. Remove the door glass.
  20.  
  21. Remove the motor/regulator assembly.

  23. Scribe a line across the sector gear and the regulator before removing the window motor.

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  2.  
  3. Apply grease to the rollers, guides, and sliding surfaces of the regulator. Make sure to install the roller guide with the rectangular hole facing rearward. Check the window operation before installing the door panel and adjust if necessary.

Switch

Specific to:

Honda CR-V 2007-2008

Special tools required:



Trim pad remover, Snap-on A 177A, or equivalent
 
KTC trim tool set SOJATP2014, or equivalent trim tool set
 


WARNING
Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when prying components.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Using a trim tool, pry out the upper portion of the cover (A) to release the hooks (B), then remove the cover.

  5. Remove the screws.
  6.  
  7. Driver's door: Pull the inner handle (A) rearward and out half-way to release the power door lock switch bracket (B) from the door panel (C).

  9. Passenger's door: Pull the inner handle half-way.
  10.  
  11. Driver's door: Disconnect the power door lock switch connector (A). Disconnect the inner handle rod (B), then remove the inner handle (C).

  13. Lower the glass fully.
  14.  
  15. Remove the screws from under the armrest.

  17. Passenger's door: Refer to the accompanying illustration and remove the switch panel (A):
    1. Insert a flat-tip screwdriver wrapped with protective tape through a hole under the armrest and push up the back of the panel to release the rear hook (B).
    2.  
    3. Pull out along the edge of the panel to release the hooks (C) and clip.
    4.  
    5. Disconnect the power window switch connector (D).

  19. Remove the mirror mount cover.
    NOTE
    Refer to the accompanying illustration for door panel removal.

  21. Remove the door panel (A) with as little bending as possible to avoid creasing or breaking it:
    1. Release the clip (B).
    2.  
    3. Release the clips (C) that hold the door panel with a commercially available trim pad remover (D).
    4.  
    5. Starting at the rear, pull the door panel upward, then release the lock knob (E).

  23. Driver's door: Disconnect the power window switch connector (A), power mirror switch connector (B), hatch glass opener switch connector (C), and detach the harness clips (D) from the back of the door panel.

  25. Driver's door: Push up the back of the switch panel to release the clip and hooks, then remove the switch panel.

To install:

  1. Install the panel in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
    1. Replace any damaged clips.
    2.  
    3. Make sure the connectors are plugged in properly and the rod is connected properly.
    4.  
    5. Push the clips into place securely.
      NOTE
      Resetting the power window control unit is required after performing the following procedures: disconnecting the battery, removing the No. 6 (7.5 A) and/or the No. 23 (20 A) fuses from the under-dash fuse/relay box, or disconnecting the driver's door wire harness.

  3. Perform the power window control unit resetting procedure, as follows:
    1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
    2.  
    3. Move the driver's window all the way down by holding the driver's switch firmly down; when the window reaches the bottom, hold the driver's window switch firmly down for 2 seconds.
    4.  
    5. Move the driver's window all the way up by holding the driver's switch firmly up; when the window reaches the top, hold the driver's window switch firmly up for 2 seconds.
    6.  
    7. If the window does not work in AUTO, turn the ignition switch OFF and repeat the procedure.
