Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Turn OFF the ignition.
  4.  
  5. Remove the right front tire and wheel assembly.
  6.  
  7. Remove the front air deflector.
  8.  
  9. Remove the right front wheel house liner.
  10.  
  11. Thoroughly clean all contaminants from around the EBCM.
  12.  
  13. Remove the upper radiator support bracket.
  14.  
  15. Carefully lift the right side of the radiator up and move forward to access the front brake pipe of the Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV).
  16.  
  17. Carefully remove the brake pressure switch electrical connector and position out of the way.
  18.  
  19. Record the location of all brake lines to the BPMV for use as an aid during installation.
  20.  
  21. Remove the 2 master cylinder brake pipes from the BPMV.
  22.  
  23. Carefully remove the front wheel brake pipe from the BPMV.
  24.  
  25. Carefully move the right side of the radiator forward into the insulator in the frame.
  26.  
  27. Remove the remaining wheel brake pipes from the BPMV.

  29. Clean any brake fluid spillage from the BPMV.
  30.  
  31. If equipped with a brake fluid pressure sensor, disconnect the electrical connector, from the brake fluid pressure sensor.

  33. Raise and support the vehicle.
  34.  
  35. Remove the front air deflector.
  36.  
  37. Rotate the EBCM connector tab up to the unlocked position.
  38.  
  39. Disconnect the EBCM electrical connector from the EBCM and position out of the way.
  40.  
  41. Remove the 6 BPMV mounting bolts from under the mounting bracket.
  42.  
  43. Remove the EBCM/BPMV assembly from the BPMV bracket.
  44.  
  45. Remove the 4 EBCM to BPMV screws.
  46.  
  47. Clean the surface of the EBCM/BPMV assembly.
  48.  
  49. Remove the EBCM from the BPMV.
  50.  

To install:

  1. Clean the seal surface of the BPMV.
  2.  
  3. Install the EBCM to the BPMV.
  4.  
  5. Make sure that the internal pump motor connector is installed into the new EBCM prior to EBCM replacement.

  7. Install the 4 EBCM to BPMV screws.
  8.  
  9. Tighten the EBCM to BPMV screws in sequence (1-4) to 44 inch lbs. (5 Nm).

  11. Install the EBCM/BPMV assembly to the BPMV bracket.
  12.  
  13. Install the 6 BPMV mounting bolts. Tighten the BPMV nuts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  14.  
  15. Connect the EBCM electrical connector to the EBCM.
  16.  
  17. Rotate the EBCM connector tab to the locked position.
  18.  
  19. Install the front air deflector.
  20.  
  21. Lower the vehicle.
  22.  
  23. Install the 3 wheel brake pipes to the BPMV using the locations recorded during the removal procedure.
  24.  
  25. Tighten the back 3 wheel brake pipes to 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm).
  26.  
  27. Carefully lift the right side of the radiator up and move rearward to access the front brake pipe of the BPMV.
  28.  
  29. Carefully install the front brake pipe from the BPMV.
  30.  
  31. Tighten the wheel brake pipe to 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm).
  32.  
  33. Install the 2 master cylinder brake pipes to the BPMV using the locations recorded during the removal procedure.
  34.  
  35. Tighten the master cylinder brake pipes to 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm).
  36.  
  37. Carefully connect the brake pressure switch electrical connector.
  38.  
  39. Carefully move the right side of the radiator rearward into the insulator in the frame.
  40.  
  41. Install the upper radiator support bracket.
  42.  
  43. If equipped with a brake fluid pressure sensor, connect the electrical connector.
  44.  
  45. Install the right front wheel house liner.
  46.  
  47. Install the air deflector.
  48.  
  49. Install the right front tire and wheel assembly.
  50.  
  51. Fill and bleed the hydraulic brake system.
  52.  

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
    NOTE
    Always connect or disconnect the wiring harness connector from the EBCM/EBTCM with the ignition switch in the OFF position. Failure to observe this precaution could result in damage to the EBCM/EBTCM.

  3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  4.  
  5. Raise and support the vehicle.
  6.  
  7. Remove the left front tire and wheel.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) electrical connector.
  10.  
  11. If equipped with a brake fluid pressure sensor, disconnect the electrical connector.
  12.  
  13. Remove and note location of all brake lines. Cap the brake line fittings to prevent fluid loss and contamination.
  14.  
  15. Remove the BPMV mounting bolts.
  16.  
  17. Remove the BPMV.
  18.  
  19. Remove Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) mounting screws.
  20.  
  21. Remove the EBCM from the BPMV.

To install:

  1. Install the EBCM to the BPMV.
  2.  
  3. Install Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) mounting screws. Tighten the screws to 27 inch lbs. (3 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the BPMV unit. Tighten the BPMV mounting bolt to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Uncap the brake line fittings, finger tighten the brake pipe fittings before tightening to the final torque specification.
  8.  
  9. Tighten brake line fittings as follows:
    1. Brake line fitting to Wheels 13 ft. lbs. (18 Nm).
    2.  
    3. Brake line fittings from Master Cylinder 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm).
    4.  

  10.  
  11. Install the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) electrical connector.
  12.  
  13. If equipped with a brake fluid pressure sensor, connect the electrical connector.
  14.  
  15. Install the left front tire and wheel.
  16.  
  17. Lower the vehicle.
  18.  
  19. Fill the brake master cylinder reservoir.
  20.  
  21. Bleed the hydraulic brake system.
  22.  
  23. Perform the automated bleed procedure.
