Diagnosis & Testing

  1. Test the output of the wheel speed sensor as follows:
    1. Connect the DMM to the wheel speed sensor connector.
    2.
    3. Set the DMM to AC voltage.
    4.
    5. By hand, spin the wheel.
    6.
    7. For a proper wheel speed sensor signal, the AC voltage will measure greater than 100 mV while the wheel is spinning.
    8.

Removal & Installation

Front

The front wheel speed sensor is integral to the front wheel bearing assembly. If the sensor is bad the bearing assembly must be replaced.

Rear

The rear wheel speed sensor is integral to the rear wheel bearing assembly. If the sensor is bad the bearing assembly must be replaced.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.
  3. Turn OFF the ignition.
  4.
  5. Raise the vehicle.
  6.
  7. Remove the rear wheel.
  8.
  9. Remove the wheel speed sensor connector (1) from the wheel speed sensor (2).
  10.
  11. Remove and discard the wheel speed sensor (2).
    NOTE
