Starter Relay Control Circuit

Possible Causes:



Ignition system DTCs set with the ignition switch in the START position if the crank relay or the starter is inoperative. When the ECM enables starter operation, the ECM also initiates the diagnostic test routines for other DTCs. If a condition exists which prevents the engine from cranking, the ECM will not receive signal input from the crankshaft position (CKP) and camshaft position (CMP) sensors, and the DTCs will set. Reviewing the Failure Records vehicle mileage since the diagnostic test last failed may assist in diagnosing the condition. The information may help determine how often the condition that set the DTC occurs.

Theft Deterrent Key Not Programmed

Possible Causes:



The "key" referenced in the DTC descriptor does not refer to the vehicle key. In this case, "key" is referring to the challenge response. DTC P0633 requires a successful engine start to exit the learn procedure and clear the DTC. If an unrelated malfunction exists that causes engine starting to be disabled or otherwise unavailable, learn mode will not exit and DTC P0633 will remain current. In this situation, the cause of the inoperative engine starting must be corrected before diagnosing DTC P0633.

Possible Causes:



Important: Be sure to verify that the ECM engine grounds are secure and clean. If DTC P0645 cannot be duplicated, reviewing the Failure Records vehicle millage since the diagnostic test last failed may help determine how often the condition that caused the DTC to set occurs. This may assist in diagnosing the condition. If the condition is not present, refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections .

Possible Causes:



Repair any brake system related DTCs before performing this diagnostic.
 
If an BCM has been replaced, the brake pedal position (BPP) sensor must be calibrated. Refer to Brake Pedal Position Sensor Calibration .
 
This DTC may be stored as a history DTC without affecting the operation of the BCM. If stored only as a history DTC and not retrieved as a current DTC, do not replace the BCM.
 
If this DTC is retrieved as both a current and a history DTC, replace the BCM.
 
For an intermittent condition, refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections .

Inspect the transmission fluid level.
 
The transmission may be in hot mode. Inspect the transmission fluid lines to the radiator. The lines may be pinched, plugged or twisted.

Possible Causes:



Rapid fluctuation in line pressure may set DTC P0742. Refer to Line Pressure Check Procedure .
 
The customer may notice an engine stalling condition.
 
Potentially DTC P0742 can false fail and may have been set due to another DTC.
