Power Window System

Diagnosis & Testing
  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2.
  3. Attempt to operate the power windows from both the driver door switch assembly, and, from each one of the window switches mounted to the passenger doors.
  4.
  5. If the windows work an intermittent malfunction exists, thoroughly inspect the wiring and connectors. An incomplete inspection of the wiring and connectors may result in misdiagnosis causing part replacement with the reappearance of the malfunction.
  6.
  7. If the widows are inoperative, remove the DR MOD PWR circuit breaker from the fuse block.
  8.
  9. Probe the battery supply terminal of the DR MOD PWR circuit breaker with a test lamp connected to a good ground.
  10.
  11. If the test light does not illuminate, repair the open in the battery supply circuit of the DR MOD PWR circuit breaker.
  12.

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate window motor.
  2.
  3. Ignition OFF, test for less than 2.0 ohms of resistance between the ground circuit terminal 4 and ground.
  4.
  5. If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  6.
  7. Ignition ON, verify a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal 1 and ground.
  8.
  9. If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
  10.
  11. Test for 6.0-7.0 volts between the LIN circuit terminal 6 and ground.
  12.
  13. If greater than the specified range, test the LIN circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the applicable door module.
  14.
  15. If less than the specified range, test the LIN circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the applicable door module.
  16.
  17. Ignition OFF, reconnect the harness connector at the window motor.
  18.
  19. Ignition ON, observe the appropriate scan tool Window Motor Fault Status parameter while raising and lower the window. The parameter should read No Fault.
  20.
  21. If the parameter reads Motor Fault, Hall Fault, Memory Fault, LIN Fault, Anti-Trap Fault or Thermo Active, test or replace the appropriate power window motor.
  22.
  23. If all circuits test normal, replace the appropriate door module.
