Adjusting Link

Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Raise and support the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Remove the tire and wheel.
  6.  
  7. Remove the adjustment link to knuckle mounting bolt.
  8.  
  9. Remove the adjustment link to frame mounting bolt.
  10.  
  11. Remove the adjustment link from the vehicle.

To install:

  1. Install the adjustment link to the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Install the adjustment link to knuckle mounting bolt.
  4.  
  5. Install the adjustment link to frame mounting bolt. Tighten the bolts to 129 ft. lbs. (175 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install the tire and wheel.
  8.  
  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10.  
  11. Adjust the rear toe.
  12.  

(FE1) & (FE3) Suspensions
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Raise and support the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Remove the hex nut from the adjustment link.
  6.  
  7. Use the J 24319-B puller to separate the adjustment link from the control arm.
  8.  
  9. Remove the exhaust.
  10.  
  11. Remove the rear suspension support.
  12.  
  13. Remove the cam lock nut and the bolt.
  14.  
  15. Remove the adjustment link from the support assembly.

  17. Install the adjustment link to the support assembly.
  18.  
  19. Install the cam lock nut, washer and bolt.
  20.  
  21. Tighten the cam lock nut to 67 ft. lbs. (91 Nm).
  22.  
  23. Install the adjustment link to the control arm.
  24.  
  25. Tighten the nut to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm), then tighten an additional 180 degrees.
  26.  
  27. Install the rear suspension support
  28.  
  29. Install the exhaust.
  30.  
  31. Lower the vehicle.
  32.  
  33. Check the rear toe adjustment.
  34.  

(FE7) Suspension
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Raise and support the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Remove the hex nut from the adjustment link.
  6.  
  7. Using the J 24319-B separate the adjustment link from the lower control arm.
  8.  
  9. Remove the support bracket bolts from the center support.
  10.  
  11. Using a block of wood and suitable jack, support the rear support assembly.
  12.  
  13. Remove the exhaust.
  14.  
  15. Remove two rear support assembly bolts and lower the support assembly.

  17. Remove the cam lock nut and the bolt.
  18.  
  19. Remove the adjustment link from the support assembly.

To install:

  1. Install the adjustment link to the support assembly.
  2.  
  3. Install the cam lock nut, washer and bolt. Tighten the cam lock nut to 77 ft. lbs. (105 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the adjustment link to the control arm hex nut.
  6.  
  7. Tighten the hex nut to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm) then an additional 200 degrees.
  8.  
  9. Raise the support assembly and the exhaust.
  10.  
  11. Install the rear two bolts in the support assembly to the body of the vehicle. Tighten the support bolts to 153 ft. lbs. (207 Nm).
  12.  
  13. Install the exhaust
  14.  
  15. Install the center support bracket bolts. Tighten the bolts to 94 ft. lbs. (128 Nm).
  16.  
  17. Lower the vehicle.
  18.  
  19. Check the rear toe adjustment.
