Stabilizer Shaft

Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
    WARNING
    The ball stud must not rotate during disassembly or reassembly. Hand tools must be used to keep the ball stud from rotating. If air tools are used and the stud is allowed to rotate, damage to the ball stud and/or stud mounting hole may occur.

  3. Raise and support the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Remove the tire and wheel.
  6.  
  7. Remove the stabilizer shaft links to stabilizer shaft retaining nuts.

  9. Remove the stabilizer shaft links from the stabilizer shaft.
  10.  
  11. Remove the stabilizer shaft mounting bolts and brackets.

  13. Remove the stabilizer shaft from the vehicle.
  14.  
  15. Remove the stabilizer shaft insulator from the stabilizer shaft.

To install:

  1. Install the stabilizer shaft insulator to the stabilizer shaft with the slit facing rearward.
  2.  
  3. Install the stabilizer shaft to the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Install the stabilizer shaft brackets and mounting bolts. Tighten the bolts to 44 ft. lbs. 60 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install the stabilizer shaft links to the stabilizer shaft.
  8.  
  9. Install the stabilizer shaft links to the stabilizer shaft retaining nuts. Tighten the nuts to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Install the tire and wheel .
  12.  
  13. Lower the vehicle.
  14.  

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Raise and support the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Remove the right and left stabilizer shaft links.
  6.  
  7. Remove the stabilizer shaft bracket bolts.
  8.  
  9. Bend open the end of the stabilizer shaft brackets and slide over the stabilizer shaft insulators to remove.
  10.  
  11. Remove the stabilizer shaft insulators.
  12.  
  13. Remove the stabilizer shaft.

To install:

  1. Install the stabilizer shaft.
  2.  
  3. Install the stabilizer shaft insulators to the stabilizer shaft with the slit facing forward.
  4.  
  5. Bend the stabilizer shaft bracket downward to close around the stabilizer shaft insulators.
    NOTE
    Ensure the stabilizer shaft is centered before installing the bracket bolts.

  6.  
  7. Install the stabilizer shaft bracket bolts. For (FE1) and (FE3), tighten the stabilizer shaft bracket bolts to 24 ft. lbs. (33 Nm). For (FE7) suspensions tighten to 38 ft. lbs. (51 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Install the stabilizer shaft link insulators, spacer, nut and bolt.
  10.  
  11. Tighten the stabilizer shaft link nut to 11 ft. lbs. (15 Nm).
  12.  
  13. Lower the vehicle.
  14.
