  9. Remove the brake rotor.
  10.
  11. Remove the routing clip securing wheel speed sensor cable to the knuckle.
  12.
  13. Remove the wheel speed sensor.
  14.
  15. Remove the nut attaching the outer tie rod to the knuckle. To do this, hold the tie rod end stud with a wrench while loosening and removing the nut with a standard wrench or crowfoot wrench.
  16.
  17. Release the outer tie rod end from the knuckle using Special Tool 9360 Ball Joint Remover.
  18.
  19. Remove the outer tie rod from the knuckle.
  20.
  21. Remove the nut and pinch bolt clamping the ball joint stud to the knuckle.
    NOTE
The strut assembly-to-knuckle attaching bolts are serrated and must not be turned during removal.

  22.
  23. While holding the bolt heads stationary, remove the two nuts from the bolts attaching the strut to the knuckle.
  24.
  25. Remove the two bolts attaching the strut to the knuckle using a pin punch.
    WARNING
Use care when separating the ball joint stud from the knuckle, so the ball joint seal does not get cut.

  26.
  27. Using a suitable pry tool, separate the ball joint stud from the knuckle by prying down on lower control arm and up against the ball joint boss on the knuckle.
    WARNING
Do not allow the half shaft to hang by the inner CV-joint. It must be supported to keep the joint from separating during this operation.

  28.
  29. Pull the knuckle off the half shaft outer CV-joint splines and remove the knuckle from the vehicle.
  30.

To install:

  1. Slide the hub of the knuckle onto the splines of the halfshaft outer CV-joint.
  2.
  3. Install the knuckle onto the ball joint stud aligning the bolt hole in the knuckle boss with the groove formed into the side of the ball joint stud.
  4.
  5. Install a new ball joint stud pinch bolt and nut. Tighten the nut to 60 ft. lbs. (82 Nm).
  6.
  7. Position the lower end of the strut assembly in line with the upper end of the knuckle, aligning the mounting holes. Install the two mounting bolts. Install the nuts on the two bolts and tighten the nuts to 62 ft. lbs. (84 Nm).
  8.
  9. Install the outer tie rod ball stud into the hole in the knuckle arm. Start the tie rod end-to-knuckle nut onto the stud. While holding the tie rod end stud with a wrench, tighten the nut with a wrench or crowfoot wrench to 97 ft. lbs. (132 Nm).
  10.
  11. Install the wheel speed sensor.
  12.
  13. Install the routing clip securing the wheel speed sensor cable to the knuckle.
  14.
  15. Install the brake rotor, disc brake caliper and adapter.
  16.
  17. Clean all foreign matter from the threads of the halfshaft outer CV-joint.
  18.
  19. Install the washer and hub nut on the end of the halfshaft and snug it.
  20.
  21. Have an assistant apply the brakes to keep the hub from rotating and tighten the hub nut to 181 ft. lbs. (245 Nm.
  22.
  23. Insert the cotter pin through the notches in the nut and the hole in halfshaft. If the notches in the nut do not line up with the hole in the halfshaft, continue to tighten the nut until they do. Do not loosen the nut.
  24.
  25. Wrap the cotter pin ends tightly around the lock nut.
  26.
  27. Install the front wheel.
  28.
