Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect battery negative cable from battery and properly isolate to prevent accidental reconnection.
  4.  
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Driver side instrument panel insulator
     
    Clutch pedal pin retainer
     
    Clutch master cylinder push rod from the clutch pedal pin
     
    Clutch master cylinder nuts
     
    Clutch master cylinder push on nuts
     
    Clutch master cylinder U-bolt
     
    Clutch master cylinder from the front of dash
     

  6.  
  7. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
  8.  
  9. Remove the actuator hose using a GM hydraulic hose release tool.
  10.  
  11. Protect both hose coupling ends from dirt and damage.
  12.  
  13. Lower the vehicle.
  14.  
  15. Remove the clutch master cylinder reservoir push-in retainer.
  16.  
  17. Slide the clutch master cylinder reservoir out from the hood strut bracket.
  18.  
  19. Remove the clutch master cylinder (and reservoir) from the vehicle.

To install:

  1. Install the clutch master cylinder into the opening in the front of dash.
  2.  
  3. Slide the clutch master cylinder reservoir into the opening on the hood strut bracket.
  4.  
  5. Install the clutch master cylinder reservoir push-in retainer.
  6.  
  7. Raise the vehicle.
    WARNING
    DO NOT rely on an audible click or a visual verification of the clutch hydraulic hose quick connect fitting connection.

  9. Connect the clutch master cylinder hose to the clutch actuator. Push together the clutch hydraulic quick connect fittings, then pull back on the fittings to verify engagement.
  10.  
  11. Check the clutch hydraulic hoses for twists or kinks.
  12.  
  13. Lower the vehicle.
  14.  
  15. Install or connect the following:

    Clutch master cylinder U-bolt
     
    Clutch master cylinder push on nuts
     
    Clutch master cylinder nuts and tighten to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm)
     
    Clutch master cylinder push rod onto the clutch pedal pin
     
    Clutch pedal pin retainer
     
    Driver side knee bolster
     
    Driver side instrument panel insulator
     

  16.  
  17. Bleed the clutch hydraulic system.
  18.  
  19. Reconnect negative battery cable.
  20.
