Removal & Installation



3.8L Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect battery negative cable from battery and properly isolate to prevent accidental reconnection.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect oil pressure sensor electrical connector.
  6.  
  7. Remove the oil pressure sensor.

To install:

  1. Install the oil pressure sensor and tighten to 12 ft. lbs. (16 Nm)
  2.  
  3. Connect oil pressure sensor electrical connector.
  4.  
  5. Reconnect negative battery cable.
  6.  

5.7L Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect battery negative cable from battery and properly isolate to prevent accidental reconnection.
  4.  
  5. Remove the intake manifold.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the oil pressure sensor electrical connector.
    WARNING
    Clean the area around the sensor before removal. This avoids debris from entering the engine.

To install:

  1. If installing the old sensor, apply thread sealant GM P/N 12346004,(Canadian P/N 1093480), or equivalent electrically-conductive sealant.
  2.  
  3. Use special tool J 41712 or a suitable socket to install the oil pressure sensor to the engine block and tighten to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm)
  4.  
  5. Connect the oil pressure sensor electrical connector.
  6.  
  7. Install the intake manifold.
  8.  
  9. Reconnect negative battery cable.
  10.
