Toyota Camry 2007-2008

For the most efficient use of the three-way catalytic converter, the air fuel ratio must be precisely controlled. For the purpose of helping the ECM to deliver accurate air fuel ratio control, a heated oxygen sensor is used. The heated oxygen sensor is located behind the three-way catalytic converter, and detects the oxygen concentration in the exhaust gas. Since the sensor is integrated with the heater that heats the sensing portion, it is possible to detect the oxygen concentration even when the intake air volume is low. The ECM uses the supplementary information from the HO2 sensor to determine whether the air-fuel ratio after the TWC is rich or lean, and adjusts the fuel injection time accordingly.

Removal & Installation



2.4L Engine

Specific to:

Toyota Camry 2007-2008

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the oxygen sensor connectors.
    NOTE
    Do not damage the heated oxygen sensor.

  4.  
  5. Using Special Tool: 09224-00010 or equivalent, remove the two oxygen sensors from the front pipe assembly.

To install:

  1. Install the oxygen sensor to the front pipe assembly. Tighten to 32 ft. lbs. (44 Nm). Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 300 mm (11.81 in.).

  3. Connect the oxygen sensor connector.

3.5L Engine

Specific to:

Toyota Camry 2007-2008

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the front exhaust pipe assembly.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the 2 oxygen sensor connectors.
  6.  
  7. Using Special Tool: 09224-00010 or equivalent, remove the 2 oxygen sensors from the front pipe assembly.

To install:

  1. Install the 2 oxygen sensors to the front pipe assembly. Tighten to 32 ft. lbs. (44 Nm) and 30 ft. lbs. (40 Nm). Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 300 mm (11.81 in.).

  3. Connect the 2 oxygen sensor connectors.
  4.  
  5. Remove the front exhaust pipe assembly.

Testing



Specific to:

Toyota Camry 2007-2008

  1. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals:
    1. Condition:

    3. 68°F (20°C) at 11 to 16 ohms.

  3. If the resistance is not as specified, replace the heated oxygen sensor.
