Toyota Camry 2007-2008


CAUTION
Before inspecting the high-voltage system or disconnecting the low voltage connector of the inverter with converter assembly, take safety precautions, such as wearing insulated gloves and removing the service plug grip to prevent electrical shocks. Make sure to turn the power switch off before removing the service plug grip. After removing the service plug grip, put it in your pocket to prevent other technicians from accidentally reconnecting it while you are working on the high-voltage system.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Remove the engine cover.
  6.  
  7. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
  8.  
  9. Remove the manifold stays.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the air-fuel ratio sensor connector.
  12.  
  13. Remove the or disconnect remaining components from the exhaust manifold.

  15. For PZEV vehicles, perform the following:


    1. Remove the five nuts, manifold converter and gasket.

  17. For non-PZEV vehicles, perform the following:


    1. Remove the four bolts and insulator.
    2.  
    3. Remove the five nuts, manifold converter and gasket.
    4.

  19. Remove the exhaust manifold from catalytic converter.

To install:

  1. To install, reverse removal procedure.
  2.  
  3. Install new gaskets for exhaust manifolds.
  4.  
  5. For non-PZEV vehicles, tighten exhaust manifold bolts in sequence to: 27 ft. lbs. (37 Nm). Tighten the exhaust manifold heat insulator bolts to: 9 ft. lbs. (12 Nm).

  7. For PZEV vehicles, tighten exhaust manifold bolts in sequence to: 27 ft. lbs. (37 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Tighten the exhaust manifold stays to 32 ft. lbs. (44 Nm).

Non-hybrid

Specific to:

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Remove engine cover.
  6.  
  7. Remove air cleaner assembly.
  8.  
  9. Remove manifold stays.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the air-fuel ratio sensor connector.
  12.  
  13. Remove or disconnect remaining components from the exhaust manifold.

  15. For PZEV vehicles, perform the following:


    1. Remove the five nuts, manifold converter and gasket.

    1. Remove the four bolts and insulator.

    3. Remove the five nuts, manifold converter and gasket.

To install:

  1. To install, reverse removal procedure.

  5. For non-PZEV vehicles, tighten exhaust manifold bolts in sequence to: 27 ft. lbs. (37 Nm). Tighten the exhaust manifold heat insulator bolts to: 9 ft. lbs. (12 Nm).

  7. For PZEV vehicles, tighten exhaust manifold bolts in sequence to: 27 ft. lbs. (37 Nm).

  9. Tighten the exhaust manifold stays to 32 ft. lbs. (44 Nm).

3.5L Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the engine assembly with transaxle.
  4.  
  5. Secure the engine.
  6.  
  7. Remove the ignition coil assembly.
  8.  
  9. Remove the right No. 2 engine mounting stay.
  10.  
  11. Remove the intake manifold.
  12.  
  13. Remove the right exhaust manifold sub-assembly, as follows:
    1. Uniformly loosen and remove the 6 nuts.

    3. Remove the manifold and gasket.
    4.

  15. Remove the oil level gauge guide sub-assembly.
  16.  
  17. Remove the bolt, nut and No. 2 manifold stay.
  18.  
  19. Remove the 3 bolts and No. 2 exhaust manifold heat insulator.
  20.  
  21. Remove the left exhaust manifold sub-assembly, as follows:
    1. Uniformly loosen and remove the 6 nuts.

    3. Remove the manifold and gasket.
    4.

To install:

  1. Install the left exhaust manifold sub-assembly, as follows:
    1. Install a new gasket.
    2.  
    3. Install the left exhaust manifold sub-assembly with the 6 nuts and tighten to 15 ft. lbs. (21 Nm).
    4.  

  2.  
  3. Install the No. 2 exhaust manifold heat insulator with the 3 bolts and tighten to 75 inch lbs. (8.5 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the No. 2 manifold stay with the bolt and nut and tighten to 25 ft. lbs. (34 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install the oil level gauge guide sub-assembly.
  8.  
  9. Install the right exhaust manifold sub-assembly, as follows:
    1. Install a new gasket.
    2.  
    3. Install the right exhaust manifold sub-assembly with the 6 nuts and tighten to 15 ft. lbs. (21 Nm).
    4.  

  10.  
  11. Install the intake manifold.
  12.  
  13. Install the right No. 2 engine mounting stay.
  14.  
  15. Install the ignition coil assembly.
  16.  
  17. Install the engine assembly with transaxle.
