  10.
  11. Using SST (SST: 09930-00010) and hammer, release the staked part of the front axle hub nut.
    NOTE
Loosen the staked part of the nut completely, otherwise the screw of the drive shaft may be damaged.

  12.
  13. While applying the brakes, remove the front axle hub nut.
  14.
  15. Remove the nut and separate the front stabilizer link assembly.
    NOTE
If the ball joint turns together with the nut, use a hexagon wrench (6mm) to hold the stud.

  16.
  17. Remove the bolt and clip, and separate the speed sensor wire and flexible hose from the shock absorber.
  18.
  19. Remove the bolt and separate the front speed sensor from the steering knuckle.
    NOTE
Do not allow foreign matter to adhere to the speed sensor. Be careful not to damage the speed sensor.

  20.
  21. Separate tie rod end sub-assembly, as follows:
    1. Remove the cotter pin and nut.
    2.
    3. Using SST (SST: 09628-62011) or equivalent, separate the tie rod end sub-assembly from the steering knuckle.
      NOTE
Do not damage the ball joint dust cover.

    4.

  22.
  23. Remove the bolt and 2 nuts, and separate the lower No. 1 front suspension arm sub-assembly from the lower ball joint.
  24.
  25. Put matchmarks on the front drive shaft assembly and the axle hub.

  26.
  27. Using a plastic hammer, separate the front drive shaft assembly from the front axle hub sub-assembly.
    NOTE
Be careful not to damage the drive shaft boot and speed sensor rotor.

  28.
  29. Remove the front drive shaft assembly(s), as follows:
    1. For left front drive shaft, use SST (SST: 09520-01010, SST: 09520-24010) or equivalent, and remove the left front drive shaft assembly.
      NOTE
Be careful not to damage the drive shaft dust cover, boot and oil seal. Be careful not to drop the drive shaft assembly.

    2.
    3. For right front drive shaft, use a screwdriver and remove the bearing bracket hole snap ring.
    4.
    5. Remove the bolt and right front drive shaft assembly from the drive shaft bearing bracket.
      NOTE
Do not damage the boot and oil seal.

    6.

  30.
  31. Fix front axle hub bearing. The hub bearing could be damaged if it is subjected to the vehicle's full weight, such as moving the vehicle with the drive shaft removed. If it is necessary to place the vehicle's weight on the hub bearing, first support it with SST (SST: 09608-16042).
  32.

To install:

  1. Install the front drive shaft assembly(s), as follows:
    1. Coat the spline of the inboard joint shaft assembly with automatic transaxle fluid.
    2.
    3. For the left front drive shaft, align the shaft splines and install the drive shaft assembly with a brass bar and hammer.
      NOTE
Set the shaft snap ring with the opening side facing down. Be careful not to damage the drive shaft dust cover, boot, and oil seal. Move the drive shaft assembly while keeping it level.

    4.
    5. For the right front drive shaft, install the drive shaft and use a screwdriver to install a new bearing bracket hole snap ring, and install a new bolt tightened to 24 ft. lbs. (32 Nm).
      NOTE
Be careful not to damage the drive shaft dust cover, boot and oil seal.
