Specific to:

Toyota Camry 2007-2008

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Drain power steering fluid.
  4.  
  5. Remove RH engine under cover.
  6.  
  7. Remove RH front fender apron seal.
  8.  
  9. Remove fan and generator v belt.
  10.  
  11. Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 1 fluid reservoir to pump hose from the vane pump assembly.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect pressure feed tube assembly, as follows:
    1. Remove the union bolt and disconnect the pressure feed tube assembly from the vane pump assembly.

    3. Remove the gasket from the pressure feed tube assembly.

  15. Disconnect the power steering fluid pressure switch connector.

  17. Remove vane pump assembly, as follows:
    1. Using SST: 09249-63010, loosen the 2 bolts and remove the vane pump assembly.
    2.  
    3. Remove the 2 bolts from the vane pump assembly.

To install:

  1. Install vane pump assembly, as follows:
    1. Temporarily install the 2 bolts to the vane pump assembly.
    2.  
    3. Install the vane pump assembly.
      NOTE
      Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 11.81 inches (300 mm).


      NOTE
      This torque value is effective when SST is parallel to the torque wrench.

    5. Using SST: 09249-63010, tighten the 2 bolts to 32 ft. lbs. (43 Nm).

  3. Connect the connector to the power steering fluid pressure switch.
  4.  
  5. Connect pressure feed tube assembly, as follows:
    1. Install a new gasket to the pressure feed tube assembly.
      NOTE
      Make sure that the stopper of the pressure feed tube assembly contacts the vane pump assembly securely as shown in the illustration.

    3. Connect the pressure feed tube assembly to the vane pump assembly with the union bolt. Tighten to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm).

  7. Connect No. 1 fluid reservoir to pump hose, as follows:
    NOTE
    Connect the No. 1 oil reservoir to pump hose with the paint mark facing toward the rear of the vehicle.


    NOTE
    Push the No. 1 oil reservoir to pump hose as far as it will go.


    NOTE
    Install the clip at the position specified in the illustration.

    1. Connect the No. 1 fluid reservoir to pump hose to the vane pump assembly with the clip.

  9. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure.

3.5L Engine



Specific to:

Toyota Camry 2007-2008

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Drain power steering fluid.
  4.  
  5. Remove RH engine under cover.
  6.  
  7. Remove RH front fender apron seal.
  8.  
  9. Remove v-bank cover sub-assembly.
  10.  
  11. Remove fan and generator v belt.
  12.  
  13. Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 1 fluid reservoir to pump hose from the vane pump assembly.
  14.  
  15. Disconnect pressure feed tube assembly, as follows:
    1. Remove the union bolt and disconnect the pressure feed tube assembly from the vane pump assembly.

    3. Remove the bolt and separate the pressure feed tube clamp.
    4.  
    5. Remove the gasket from the pressure feed tube assembly.

  17. Disconnect the power steering fluid pressure switch connector.

  19. Using SST: 09249-63010, loosen bolt (A) and remove bolt (B), and then remove the vane pump assembly.

  21. Remove the bolt from the vane pump assembly.

To install:

  1. Install vane pump assembly, as follows:
    1. Temporarily install the bolt to the vane pump assembly.
    2.  
    3. Install the vane pump assembly.
      NOTE
      Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 11.81 inches (300 mm).


      NOTE
      This torque value is effective when SST is parallel to the torque wrench.

    5. Using SST: 09249-63010, tighten the 2 bolts to 32 ft. lbs. (43 Nm).

  3. Connect the connector to the power steering fluid pressure switch.
  4.  
  5. Connect pressure feed tube assembly, as follows:
    1. Install a new gasket to the pressure feed tube assembly.
    2.  
    3. Temporarily connect the pressure feed tube assembly to the vane pump assembly with the union bolt.
    4.  
    5. Install the pressure feed tube assembly clamp with the bolt. Tighten to 87 ft. lbs. (10 Nm).
    6.  
    7. Fully tighten the union bolt and tighten to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm).
      NOTE
      Make sure that the stopper of the pressure feed tube assembly contacts the vane pump assembly securely.

  7. Connect No. 1 fluid reservoir to pump hose, as follows:
    NOTE
    Connect the No. 1 oil reservoir to pump hose with the paint mark facing toward the rear of the vehicle.


    NOTE
    Push the No. 1 oil reservoir to pump hose as far as it will go as shown in the illustration.


    NOTE
    Install the clip at the position specified in the illustration.

    1. Connect the No. 1 fluid reservoir to pump hose to the vane pump assembly with the clip.

  9. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure.
