Specific to:

Toyota Camry 2007-2008

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Perform the following:
    1. Remove both front wheel opening extension pads.
    2.  
    3. Remove both engine under covers.
    4.  
    5. Drain engine coolant.
    6.  
    7. Remove the drive belt.
    8.  
    9. Remove No. 2 idler pulley sub-assembly.
    10.  

  4.  
  5. Separate the radiator hose outlet.
  6.  
  7. Remove the 2 nuts and disconnect the water inlet from the cylinder block.
  8.  
  9. Remove the thermostat and the gasket from thermostat.

To install:

  1. Install a new gasket to thermostat.
    NOTE
    The jiggle valve may be set within 10° of either side of the prescribed position.

  2.  
  3. Install thermostat with the jiggle valve facing up.

  5. Install the water inlet and tighten to 7 ft. lbs. (10 Nm).
  6.  
  7. The remainder of installation is the reverse of removal.
  8.  
  9. After installation, refill the cooling system and bleed out the air.

Non-hybrid



Specific to:

Toyota Camry 2007-2008

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. For 2.4L engines, perform the following:
    1. Remove both front wheel opening extension pads.
    2.  
    3. Remove both engine under cover.
    4.  
    5. Drain engine coolant.
    6.  

  4.  
  5. For 3.5L engines, perform the following:
    1. Drain engine coolant.
    2.  
    3. Remove the V-bank cover sub-assembly.
    4.  
    5. Remove the RH front fender apron seal.
    6.  
    7. Remove the RH No. 2 engine mounting stay.
    8.  
    9. Remove the drive belt.
    10.  
    11. Remove No. 2 idler pulley sub-assembly.
    12.

  7. Separate the radiator hose outlet.
  8.  
  9. Remove the 2 nuts and disconnect the water inlet from the cylinder block.
  10.  
  11. Remove the thermostat and the gasket from the thermostat.

To install:

  1. Install a new gasket to the thermostat.
  2.  
  3. Install a new gasket to the thermostat.
    NOTE

  5. Install the thermostat with the jiggle valve facing up.

  7. Install the water inlet and tighten to 7 ft. lbs. (10 Nm).
  8.  
  9. The remainder of installation is the reverse of removal.
  10.  
  11. After installation, inspect for coolant leak.
