Removal & Installation

NOTE
The auxiliary battery is exclusive to this model. Be sure to replace the auxiliary battery at a dealer.

  1. Remove the luggage compartment floor mat.
  2.  
  3. Remove the luggage trim service hole cover.
  4.  
  5. Remove the auxiliary battery.
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) terminal of the auxiliary battery.
      CAUTION
      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

    3. Disconnect the cable from the positive (+) terminal of the auxiliary battery.
    4.  
    5. Disconnect the thermistor sensor connector.
    6.  
    7. Disconnect the battery room ventilation hose.
    8.  
    9. Remove the nut, bolt and battery clamp.
    10.  
    11. Remove the auxiliary battery.

To install:

  1. Install the auxiliary battery.
    1. Install the battery.
    2.  
    3. Install the battery clamp with the nut and bolt. Torque to 48 inch lbs. (5.4 Nm).

    5. Connect the thermistor sensor connector.
    6.  
    7. Connect the battery room ventilation hose.
    8.  
    9. Connect the cables to the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals of the auxiliary battery. Torque to 48 inch lbs. (5.4 Nm).
      NOTE
      When the auxiliary battery has been disconnected and reconnected, attempting to turn the power switch on (READY) may not start the system (the system may not enter the READY-on state) on the first attempt. If so, turn the power switch off and reattempt to turn the power switch on (READY).

  3. Install the luggage trim service hole cover.
  4.  
  5. Install the luggage compartment floor mat.
  6.  
  7. Perform the initialization.
    NOTE
    Some vehicle systems require initialization after reconnecting the cable to the negative battery terminal.
